Honouring the Life and Legacy of Thomas Rajan

The International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA) extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Thomas M Rajan, Chairman of Process Color, who died on 1 July 2026 following a cerebral haemorrhage. He was 84. Rajan is survived by his daughter, Mini Benito. He served on the IOTA Board of Directors from 2020 to 2023 and made a valued contribution to the Association.

A visionary entrepreneur, Thomas Rajan played a pioneering role in the development of printing, packaging and holography in India.

After a distinguished service in the Indian Air Force, Rajan moved to the US, where he graduated in printing technology and gained more than two decades of professional experience. During this time, he developed specialist expertise in holography before returning to Kerala in 1989 to establish Process Color in Kochi.
