Morphotonics Secures €40 Million to Scale AI Optics

Netherlands-based Morphotonics has secured more than €40 million in an expanded Series B funding round to scale its manufacturing technology for AI glasses, augmented reality (AR) waveguides and advanced photonic components.

The round brings together existing investors 3M Ventures, Innovation Industries and BOM, alongside Invest-NL as a major new investor. The European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund, Ernij Next and the European Investment Bank (EIB) also participated, strengthening the company's financial backing for its next phase of growth.

Morphotonics develops large-area nanoimprint lithography platforms, a process that uses a mould to transfer microscopic and nanoscale patterns into a liquid resin coating, which is then hardened using ultraviolet (UV) light. This allows manufacturers to reproduce intricate optical structures across large surfaces with high precision, supporting higher production volumes and lower costs than conventional manufacturing methods.
