Czech National Bank Adds Holographic Foil to CZK 5,000 Note

The Czech National Bank (CNB) has issued a special commemorative version of its CZK 5,000 banknote to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia’s operations beginning. Released on 22 September 2026, the anniversary banknote is based on the standard 2023 CZK 5,000 note already in circulation and remains legal tender throughout the Czech Republic.

While the dimensions, design and security features of the banknote are unchanged, the commemorative edition is distinguished by a unique holographic foil print applied using nano-effect hot-stamping technology.

The silver metallic foil incorporates colour-shifting effects that change depending on the viewing angle and incident light. At the centre of the design is a special anniversary logo created for the centenary celebrations. At the same time, additional elements include two portraits of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first President of Czechoslovakia, and a QR code directing users to dedicated anniversary information on the CNB’s website.
