EMPTECH Launches PhotonShield™
Emperor Technology Company (EMPTECH), a publicly listed company headquartered in Shenzhen, China, specialising in identity document issuance technologies and AI-powered biometric solutions, has launched PhotonShield™, a new optical security feature for high-security identity documents.
Announced at the 21st Symposium and Exhibition on the ICAO Traveller Identification Program (TRIP), held in Montréal, Canada, from 22-24 September, PhotonShield is the latest addition to EMPTECH's expanding portfolio of identity technologies.
Earlier this year, the company announced a strategic partnership with Covestro to develop solutions for identity documents that combine advanced personalisation technologies with high-security polycarbonate materials for use in government credential programmes.
PhotonShield is an advanced Level 1 security feature based on photonic crystal technology, a class of engineered nanostructures that manipulate light through their physical architecture rather than inks or pigments. The feature consists of a precisely engineered periodic dielectric structure that creates a photonic bandgap, selectively reflecting specific wavelengths of light through Bragg reflection.
