New Documents Announced Across the Americas

A new wave of secure identity documents is currently being introduced throughout North America as governments renew their driver's licences and identification cards to enhance security, increase personalisation, and update their designs. In the United States, Hawaii, South Dakota, and Oklahoma, as well as Alberta in Canada, have launched redesigned credentials that include new security features, benefit from updated production technologies, and have distinctive visual elements.

First is Hawaii, where the new design replaces the credential introduced in 2009 and will be used across all 15 types of driver's licences and identification cards issued by the state. The redesigned credentials are made from 100% polycarbonate and incorporate more than 50 security features. The programme covers all 15 types of driver’s licences and identification cards issued statewide.
